On December 27, 2025, Zanhuang County Forestry Bureau invited five experts to form an expert panel and held a review meeting in Zanhuang County for the Master Plan of Taihang Mountain Zhangshiyan UNESCO Global Geopark hereinafter referred to as the Plan. Relevant leaders and experts from Shijiazhuang Municipal Forestry Bureau attended the meeting. The expert panel reviewed the text and drawings of the Plan, listened to the report by the planning preparation unit, and conducted full inquiries and in-depth discussions on relevant issues in the Plan. After expert review, the following opinions were formed:
1. The Plan is comprehensive in content and reasonable in structure. It meets the relevant standards and requirements of UNESCO Global Geoparks and demonstrates strong scientific value and forward-looking vision.
2. The Plan is based on solid resource investigation and in-depth value exploration. It conducts scientific grading and evaluation of geological heritage sites, laying a solid foundation for protection and utilization work.
3. The Plan has clear development objectives and reasonable functional zoning. It not only ensures strict protection of core geological heritage sites, but also takes into account the needs of science popularization education and the sustainable social and economic development of the region.
4. The Plan sets out specific protection measures and a sound support system. The special plans are generally feasible and provide strong support for the implementation of the Plan.
The expert panel unanimously agreed to approve the Plan.
The planning preparation unit shall further revise and improve the Plan according to the experts’ opinions and submit it in accordance with the prescribed procedures.
