(1) Implement the community network construction for geological heritage management as outlined in the Plan for the Proposed Taihang Mountain Zhangshiyan UNESCO Global Geopark, improve supervision measures for geological landscapes, geological heritage sites, and biodiversity in each functional zone, establish a geological heritage management database and monitoring system, and improve the signage and interpretation system for geological heritage scenic areas and sites within the park.
(2) In addition to allocating part of the park’s ticket revenue to protection and management work, actively explore new management approaches for the paid use of resources, strive for more sufficient funding for park protection and management, actively carry out conservation-oriented construction, and promote the optimization of the overall environment.
(3) Further improve the museum, main monument square, and tourism consultation service center (visitor center) of the proposed Taihang Mountain Zhangshiyan UNESCO Global Geopark. Use modern media, such as Weibo, official accounts, and other internet platforms, to widely promote and display the natural quality, major scientific value, aesthetic value, and profound folk cultural heritage of geological heritage landscapes such as Yixiantian, Donglingbei, Zhihutao, Qipan Mountain, and Shizhu Mountain. This will enhance public awareness of geopark protection and improve tourists’ interest and travel experience. Park staff shall receive pre-job training. Both managers and tour guides should have a comprehensive understanding of the park’s geological heritage, historical culture, environmental protection, park management, and geoheritage knowledge.
(4) Establish connections with various domestic and international nature conservation organizations, geological groups, tourism organizations, and other institutions; learn from successful international experience in conservation and development; receive consultation and guidance from experts at home and abroad; and host scientific investigations and research by scholars and experts from academic groups, schools, and research institutes both domestically and internationally.
(5) Improve the legal, regulatory, and technical support systems for park protection and utilization, align the park’s quality management system with international standards, establish an effective protection, development, and management system, create a fund for geological heritage protection and utilization, and develop Taihang Mountain Zhangshiyan Geopark into a renowned UNESCO Global Geopark.
(6) Through the full implementation of multiple projects, including the adjustment of the park’s planning layout, development of new scenic areas, scale control, transformation of power transmission and distribution projects, changes in fuel structure, treatment of sewage and solid waste, prevention and control of biological pests and diseases, protection of wildlife resources, establishment of biological conservation areas and belts, ecological environment monitoring, and prevention and control of geological disasters, the ecological environment of the scenic area will be further improved.
(7) Continue to improve and develop tourism projects, enrich various tourism themes, and expand the tourist area. Priority should be given to demolishing buildings that are incompatible with the landscape, reducing the number of commercial outlets, and controlling their layout and form. In addition, within the limits permitted by the landscape, some cultural landscapes should be appropriately restored to authentically reproduce the original ecological and cultural scenery of Taihang Mountain Zhangshiyan Geopark.
(8) Through the establishment of Taihang Mountain Zhangshiyan UNESCO Global Geopark, the goals of protecting geological heritage, promoting the sustainable social and economic development of the region, and protecting and promoting historical and cultural heritage will be achieved.
