To improve our county’s work in creating a UNESCO Global Geopark and to learn and exchange experience in UNESCO Global Geopark development, according to the work arrangement, Deputy County Mayor Song Lifeng led a team to Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture Geopark in Gansu Province on October 18 and 19, 2025, for a study and exchange visit.
Ma Jun, Director of the Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture Geopark Service Center in Gansu Province, together with members of the leadership team, accompanied the delegation on visits to the Linxia UNESCO Global Geopark Museum and the Hualin Ancient Animal Fossil Burial Site Museum. The two sides held an exchange meeting. At the meeting, Director Ma Jun introduced the basic situation of Linxia UNESCO Global Geopark and shared work experience in geopark creation, geopark management, and the construction, operation, and maintenance of geopark museums. Deputy County Mayor Song Lifeng expressed his gratitude to Director Ma Jun and the leadership team for their warm reception. He introduced the progress of Zanhuang County’s UNESCO Global Geopark creation work and focused on exchanges and learning related to geopark museum construction, operation, and maintenance. He spoke highly of Linxia UNESCO Global Geopark’s creation and management work, and said that Zanhuang County should learn more from Linxia UNESCO Global Geopark in its own creation process. To strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two sides and jointly explore ways to enhance park protection and management, planning and construction, scientific research, and science popularization, the two sides signed a sister-park agreement on site, establishing a sister-park relationship and providing a platform for future exchanges and cooperation.
Our county still has a large amount of work to implement and promote in the creation of a UNESCO Global Geopark, and it is urgent to accelerate the high-standard construction of the geopark museum. Deputy County Mayor Song Lifeng required that the next step should focus on advancing the design, construction, and other related work of the geopark museum as soon as possible, sorting out the key creation tasks that need to be promoted in the near future, forming a systematic and standardized work promotion mechanism, and fully connecting and integrating the related work of creating a national 5A tourist attraction, so as to lay a solid foundation for the creation of a UNESCO Global Geopark.
