2026 UNESCO Global Geopark Recommendation Review Meeting Held on April 20

On April 20, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration held a UNESCO Global Geopark recommendation review meeting via Tencent Meeting. Experts were organized to review the application materials of Taihang Mountain Zhangshiyan in Hebei, Taihang Mountain Changzhi in Shanxi, and Shiniuzhai in Pingjiang, Hunan, for UNESCO Global Geopark status. The meeting aimed to select candidate sites with unique value and demonstration significance for the Global Geoparks Network.
Geopark Application Support by Hebei Academy

Recently, a research team from Hebei Academy of Sciences visited Zhangshiyan National Geopark for an in-depth field investigation and exchange activity. This visit aimed to make full use of the professional expertise of Hebei Academy of Sciences to gain a comprehensive understanding of the geological resources of Zhangshiyan Geopark, further advance our park’s application for UNESCO Global Geopark status, and promote the sustainable development of local communities.
Siguniang and Changshan Global Geoparks

On April 15, at the 224th session of the UNESCO Executive Board held in Paris, France, Changshan in Zhejiang and Mount Siguniang in Sichuan successfully passed the review and were officially designated as UNESCO Global Geoparks. As a result, China now has 51 UNESCO Global Geoparks, distributed across 24 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
